What is Lean Six Sigma?
It is a Motorola strategy that was popularized in the 1990s by Jack Welch (CEO of General Electric). A five-stage method that helps businesses optimize business processes, eliminate redundancy, improve productivity, and reduce inefficiencies; and results in significant cost savings, improved performance, and a positive impact on the bottom line! Several businesses around the globe have saved billions of dollars by applying Lean Six Sigma during the past two decades. Implementing Lean Six Sigma in the workplace has benefited Dell, Standard Bank, and many other firms.
The benefits of Six Sigma to organizations:
- Profitability is increased and waste is reduced
- Enhances consumer focus
- Produces long-term change
- Establishes course and objectives
- Encourages lifelong learning and growth
According to the study, the burden of inefficiency is borne by both manufacturing and service firms. In certain instances, it may account for up to half of a support organization's spending. According to the findings, "effective work" accounts for less than 10% of the process cycle period. The rest is made up of waste, rework, and non-value-added activities.
Six Sigma positions of organizations include :
- Master Black Belt (MBB): Full-time job involving Six Sigma research and statistical methodology skills. MBB provides strategic Six Sigma guidance and technical leadership within the designated position of an organization. MBB is in charge of educating, mentoring, and coaching BBs. They establish the organization's planning programs as well as the project sign-off methodology. MBBs are important in the acceptance of BB systems.
- Black Belt (BB): Full-time employee who directs Six Sigma ventures as a Black Belt (BB). Methodologies, mathematical calculations, and leadership capabilities have all been demonstrated to them. Green Belts are coached by BBs and provide links to Six Sigma skills.
- Green Belt (GB): This role may be full-time or part-time. Six Sigma Community Leaders (GBs) form and promote Six Sigma Teams. They are in charge of overseeing Six Sigma systems from start to finish. Six Sigma BBs support and assist GBs with their services.
- Yellow Belt (YB): Part-time employment in the role including a basic understanding of Six Sigma. Assist a GB or BB project as a main staff member or subject matter expert.
Lean Six Sigma examines total efficiency that may be applied to an organization's day-to-day management practices. A successful Lean Six Sigma program prioritizes three areas: policy alignment, infrastructure advancement, and implementation support.
We use a merit-based project evaluation methodology as your chosen partner to ensure that resources are committed to processing implementation tasks that are directly applicable to your organization's strategic interests and maximize value. The partner will also work with you to build a solid infrastructure that converts the strategic agenda into actions that have significance that can be measured. This includes rapidly deploying the best employees as Black Belts and Green Belts, creating improvement tools across the organization, and establishing a systematic framework for assessing and reporting project performance.
When the strategy and infrastructure are in motion, we will assist with the operational execution of a Lean Six Sigma rollout. In addition to teaching Black Belts and Green Belts in the DMAIC strategy, we include leadership to support the curriculum and training, whilst coaching Sponsors and Champions to identify opportunities, choose and prioritize activities, and ensure openness.
To What Degree Can You Customize Materials?
Any preparation program will be tailored to the organization’s needs, policies, and culture, and will provide project examples relevant to the industry. Your Lean Six Sigma partner will be happy to provide unique experiences from their background to adapt the training material.
These will have the vocabulary and approach that are in sync with your more recent strategic activities. Training will also provide you with examples and best practices to build a toolbox with the “best of the best.” This lets the organization recognize that Lean Six Sigma is not a substitution, but more a way to draw on the strong work you’ve already accomplished. To ensure that the preparation is sufficient for the organization, our staff can also include tools to ensure that the customization phase is error-free. Simultaneously, a Lean Six Sigma program could provide all of the DMAIC methodology’s basic tools needed to work as a Green Belt or a Black Belt. However, it is best if your partner, such as Lean Six Sigma Experts of Florida, has an excellent program so that customization will be limited to examples unique to your company and may not have to be built from scratch.
